Hearts and Lillies

I know I’m late for a Valentines post, but I didn’t want to ruin theΒ surpriseΒ πŸ™‚

For my boyfriend I made him chocolate and marshmallows. I don’t have pictures at the moment, but they both taste very good. I got the chocolate recipe from an old high school friend, it’s very simple.

Chocolate:

2 1/2 cups chocolate chips

1 can condensed milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

pinch of salt

Mix together and melt over a double broiler or in the microwave, stirring every 15 seconds. When fully melted spread out on a sheet of parchment paper over a sheet pan and flatten out with a rolling pin or clean hands. If you use your hands be aware that it’s very messy, but a lot of fun πŸ˜‰

Let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour, then either hand cut or use a metal cookie cutter if you want shapes. Once it’s hardened it can last outside of the fridge, or keep it in the fridge if you live in a hot and moist area.

Instead of typing out the marshmallow recipe I’ll post a link, it’s Alton Brown’s recipe from Good Eats. I reccomend that you watch the correspoding episode either before you try making it, or after if it didn’t turn out quite right. I’d reccomend watching it first, it’s a good show and has a lot of tips in it.

For my mom I made a ribbon heart following the tutorial posted by Secretlifeofabionerd, I’ll post a link below my photo.

It looks like a difficult project, but it’s actually quite easy and a fast project:Β Ribbon Tutorial

She has very easy to understand videos, so it makes it a lot easier.

Today I have a six hour break between my classes, so while I was watching Doctor Who I decided to sketch a bit. I’m not good enough to draw right from my mind, so I found this photo:Β Lily

I really need to get plain paper, so for now this is sketched out on lined. It’s a bad habit of mine πŸ™‚

That’s everything for today, hopefully I can get some work done later on my jacket so I can post that next. I also need to get more Perler Beads so that I can make companions for the Doctor πŸ˜€

Bow-ties are cool.

My biggest Perler Bead project yet:

Based off of this sprite: Doctor

It’s not very clear in this photo, but his bow-tie is purple πŸ™‚

If I get more beads then maybe I’ll end doing more, the Doctor needs a companion now πŸ˜‰

Perler Beads

I’ve been doing some sewing lately, but I’ll post that later since I’m still just relaxing after getting my wisdom teeh out. SO instead I’ve been in bed working with Perler Beads. I picked some up a Michaels, I used to use them when I was a lot smaller. So I thought I’d show some small things I’ve made while I’m working on something big that I’ll post later.

First is a cake box. It’s not very big, but could be used to store some things or just as a cute box:

Also, sorry for the picture quality, lighting isn’t that great so I may update the photos later.

Next are some popsicles:

Then a watermelon slice that I’m thinking of turning into a necklace:

These are all just small things, but like I said I’m working on something bigger so there’ll be an update soon πŸ™‚

Welcome :)

Crafty Baking is a mixed site. You can probably guess the main topics – crafts and baking. I’m an avid fan of both, so I’m starting this blog to post ideas, tutorials and projects. The crafts will most likey be mainly sewing and knitting, but I may throw in something else every now and then. The baking will be anything for cakes, muffins, cookies, and the like, even some cake decorating.

I have a couple of projects going on at the moment, so you can expect a new post soon πŸ™‚
